Babymetal's newest rival: LADYBABY

Pritz, Necronomidol and Death Rabbits. These bands have tried their best to ride the wave of Babymetal's popularity by creating "Kawaii Metal" songs but none have reach the same success as the original.

LADYBABY is the newest kawaii metal band from Japan. The group is composed of Ladybeard(known for his cosplaying antics) and two junior idols, Rie Kaneko and Rei Kuromiya. At first glance this band looks like a parody version of Babymetal but if we take a look closely this band looks like they are serious about it. Due to the fact that they were able to get a well known japanese guitarist and music producer, Rolly, to provide the riffs and play the guitars in the music video. Ladybeard is not just a just an ordinary cosplayer either, he is also a heavy metal singer and can do a fairly decent growls. He is also an avid fan of Babymetal.

The band was primarily created by the cosplay/apparel company Clearstone as a way to promote their products. If this band can produce decent songs they will surely get a following and may even become a rival for Babymetal.
